{"id":3854,"date":"2018-11-03T20:27:53","date_gmt":"2018-11-03T18:27:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/es1rf.interval.ee\/?p=3854"},"modified":"2018-11-21T12:26:00","modified_gmt":"2018-11-21T10:26:00","slug":"yl100-latvia-100-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/es1rf.interval.ee\/?p=3854","title":{"rendered":"YL100 &#8211; Latvia 100 years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 18 November 2018 Latvia will celebrate its centenary.<br \/>\nRadio amateurs in Latvia from November 1st to 18th, 2018 will activate special callsigns with prefix <b>YL100<\/b> to commemorate this event.<br \/>\n5 different callsigns are used with YL100 prefix &#8211; one from each of 4 Latvia&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cultural_regions_of_Latvia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">historical regions<\/a> and one from the capital city &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Riga\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Riga:&nbsp;<\/a>YL100K, YL100L, YL100R, YL100V, YL100Z.<br \/>\n3 kind of&nbsp; Awards are possible for QSOs with a special callsigns during these 18 days.<br \/>\nHere is my first one, the simplest, 3rd class Award. Second one &#8211; 2nd class<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/es1rf.interval.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/yl100_3_class_.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3855 size-thumbnail alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/es1rf.interval.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/yl100_3_class_-170x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"170\" height=\"150\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/es1rf.interval.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/YL100_2_class_.jpg\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3865 size-thumbnail alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/es1rf.interval.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/YL100_2_class_-170x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"170\" height=\"150\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/es1rf.interval.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/YL100_1_class_.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-3868 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/es1rf.interval.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/YL100_1_class_-170x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"170\" height=\"150\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Last target &#8211; 1st class Award,&nbsp; for contacting each of the 5 different YL100 callsigns at least on 4 different bands. More or less it is real on 160. 80 and 40 meter bands. Hard, but possible on 30 meter band. Because we are too&nbsp; close in distance to Latvia, so so called &#8220;death zone&#8221; make nearly impossible for QSO on 40 and above HF bands.<br \/>\nBut!&nbsp; hope it will be possible on VHF bands, including EME.<br \/>\nAnd it was possible! During NAC-144 (06.11.18), all 5 calls were presented. Award rules are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lral.lv\/yl100\/rules.html\">here.<\/a><br \/>\nLet&#8217;s see&#8230;.<br \/>\n14th of November. Final target is achieved: &#8220;Latvia 100 award 1st class&#8221; is completed!<br \/>\nNot easy, because bands, higher, than 30 meter band, are in the &#8220;death zone&#8221;. So, VHF bands are helped me very much!
