On May 7, 1895 a Russian physicist and electrical engineer Alexander Popov presented a device, that received signals from the Hertz spark vibrator at a meeting of the Russian Physical and Chemical Society in St. Petersburg.
This experiment demonstrated the possibility of transmitting messages over a distance without wires. In Russia and some other countries, May 7 is celebrated as the “Day of Radio”.
In connection with the 120th anniversary of this event the SRR (Soyuz Radiolyubitelei Rossii) organizes and conducts the Activity Days “120 Years of Radio.” More info radio120.hamlog.ru The Activity period was started at 21.00UTC UTC March, 31 and will be over at 20.59 UTC April, 30, 2015.
There are 4 types of awards: MIXED, CW, SSB, DIGITAL. Below are, which I received.
The easiest, in my opinion, is MIXED Award. I’ve got the necessary 120 points in a two days . But the main target was to get CW grade. Because first ever radio transmission was on Morse code! And this is my favorite operation mode too!!
If I will have enough time and wishes, than continue hunting…
The next one (DIGI grade) was received on 10.04.2015. Not sure, if I like to get the SSB grade. But
