aur_071015Good Aurora, but I have  not had enough time to use all opening. As usually, tried to get a new initials. And it was successful:  26 QSO and 16 new callsigns were added into logbook. The best QRB was 1266 km (RA4FP).
Full log is below.

New DXCC: Majuro Is. (OC-029), V73EME, Marshall Islands

Mr Keizo (Kay) Sanao, IH3AZC with a group of other Japanise HAMs taken a DX-pedition v73eme_3 to Majur o Island. This is a new country for many of EME-ers!
He started as a V73EME on September, 24th. Time for his expedition was not the best due to a very s hort common window for Europe and Marshall Islands. First day it was only 30 minutes! In additional, something was wrong with his antenna. With power 800 W, even UA3PTW have seen his signal at -29 db! Same situation was on the next days…
But later Kay found a fault. Exactly at the date of full moon eclipse! And he got a real pile-up! After that was not a problem to work with him and get a new DXCC (#149).  Thank You, Kay-san!

DX-pedition to Moorea, Tahiti Island (Iota OC-046)

tx7eme_antGiulio, IW3HVB was QRV from Moorea, Tahiti Island on 144 Mhz EME. Rig is 2×9 el. XPols and LDMOS PA. The callsign is TX7EME.
I’ve got him on 5th of September, on his 2nd operation day, than our mutual window was only around 1 hour. We complete QSO, than antenna elevation on both sides was around 3 degrees: Moon rise here and Moon set there! But QSO was easy: Guilio answered to my second call. His signal was -28db, but good decoded. This QSO was logged at 21:05 utc. Number 101 in the expedition log. And DXCC # 148 for me.
Here is link to IW3HVB site, where you can find all about this one operator expedition to the French Polynesia, Tahiti Island.
THANK YOU, GUILIO!!

Meteor shower Perseids 2015

Annual and one of the most popular meteor showers, the Perseids. According to IMO,  the maximum in 2015 is expected to occur on August 13, most likely around 06h30m to 09h00m UT, with ZHR = 100 hr-1.
In my opinion, the maximum become, as predicted. Some QSO (OE6IWG, G4SWX, PA5KT, PA2CHR and others) were completed in 1,5 – 2.0 minutes!
As a result of my very minor activity, were 53 completed QSOs, 26 new MS initials,   but only one new grid-square (EI9E, IO43XW).
Best ODX 2187 km (EI9E) on 144 and 70  Mhz.

Sporadic-E opening on Aug, 9th

Really great Sporadic-E on 50-70 Mhz bands was continued nearly whole day on August 9, 2015. I paid focus to 4M band and only checked periodically 6M band. As a result – 3 new grid-squares on 4M (total score now 244). Below is QSO-map and some statistic.

Nothing interesting for me on 6 M band, just a several initials.

Back in the air

Vacation is over and I’m back on the air. Two weeks were spent in the resort town of Druskininkai (Lithuania) and a little travel by car. As usual, I took with me transceiver YAESU FT-817 and screwdriver antenna ATAS-100 with a home made remote controller. As known, this antenna fits to FT-100 and FT-847 transceivers.  But with  a external controller is possible to use ATAS-100 with any other transceiver. Here is my setup in a hotel’s room. ATAS-100 on the magnetic base “pasted”to a metallic balconies siding.

Not much QSO’s were made on HF by LY/ES3RF/p. Just for fun! Unfortunately, no one QSO on VHF. None answered to my CQ on 145.500…
Below is LY/ES3RF/p log:
