4S7BBG on 2m EME – my DXCC #152

Team of: OK1RI, OK1FFU, OK1DO, OK1NY, OK1JKT, OK1VVT, OK5MM +7x XYL make a small holiday style expedition in Sri Lanka.  The callsign 4S7BBG. Mainly on HF bands, but they also Q4s7bbg_RV on 2m EME.
Small setup, IC-7000, 17 el. M2, 0.3 dB NF, 150W. Operator Vasek, OK1VVT.
I was lucky
to complete with 4S7BBG on 04-th of March at 04:57 UTC. His best was -29 db, but some times trace was -31 db and slightly drifted.  Vasek informed in the chat, that my signal was -25 db.
More pictures regarding to EME activity are here: http://ok1vvt.rajce.idnes.cz/4S7BBG
On the 4s7bbg_next day, 5th of Mach, conditions were much better and his CQ some times was up to -22 db. I called him with my call sign ES1RF and he answered me from the first call (but same was yesterday, by the way). QSO was very quick (first QSO lasts 12 minutes). I’ve got -24 from Vasek.

Aurora, 20th of January

I found Aurora around 13:30 UTC. Antenna QTF was 40-60 degrees. Completed  first QSO on 2M with UA3XAC and than checked 70 cm band. There were YL2FZ and UA1ANA. Some stations on 6M and nobody on 4M, but very strong OIRT’s QRM.  As shown on the map, all QSO with the stations from the East. Totally 28 QSO: 5 QSO on 70 cm and the rest on 2M. 7 new callsigns in the log.

Quadrantids 2016

As usual, Quadrantids open the list of meteor showers of the year.
Quadrantiquadr_16ds maximum is typically rather sharp, with ZHR varying in the range 60-200 hr-1. Its maximum in 2016 was expected to occur on January 4th, 08h UT, with ZHR = 120 hr-1.
Unfortunately, I  had only few hours on January 4th to enjoy to work in this shower…
3rd of January I completed MS QSO on 432 Mhz with RW4HW (ODX 1634 km) and OZ5AGJ on 70 Mhz (ODX 916 km). Only 1 hour in the air…
Оn 4th of January I worked few hours more on 50, 70 and 144 MHz. Only one new grid square (LO63 – #900!) on 144 mhz, 2 initials on 6m, 4 initials on 4m and 5 initials on 2m  bands.
An interesting experiment we made with Robert, 2E1IIP. We started QSO simultaneously on 6 and 4 m bands. JT6M on 6m and FSK441 on 4m. So, same stones, same pings with a slightly varying lengths and same info in every ping. I missed decoding of one ping on 4 m band, because it was too short. Completed in 8 minutes on 6m and in 11 minutes on 4 m.

The results are below:

Year 2015 statistic

I guess I was quite active in the past 2015!
1399 QSO,: 445 on HF bands and 954 on VHF bands. The contests were not counted. As far, as I am  on HF bands only for a fun, below will be detailed statistic for VHF and up bands.

Gemenids – 2015

The Geminids are considered to be one of the more spectacular meteor shower during a year, with the possibility of sighting around 120 meteors per hour at its peak. At this year, maximum of shower was predicted between 13 -14th of December.
This time, again, I did not spent much time, but tried to be in the air around predicted maximum and looked for new MS initials. It was successive: from 81 QSO, the new initials were 40. I am satisfied.
Some statistic in graphical view is below.

But the most interesting was QSO with Przhemek, SQ2LYF.  His antenna was small mobile vertical and only 2.5 watt output (!!).
What he is writing (by e-mail):

“”””” HI Genek
Thanks again for the qso. I was really happy.
I moved to other QTH last year and now my antenna contitions is… very poor.
Pleasesq2lyf4 see how I worked on pictures (RIG+ant). This was only a 2.5 W power and mobile antenna mounted not so high like You can see.
Many thanks for that qso and for qso’s on 6m earlier.. I have QSL from You.
I’m not a member of bureau but I confirms by LOTW

DXCC #151 on 144 Mhz EME

Peter (DL1RPL) with his son Soeren (DL3RKS) are organized an EME expedition to the island Mayotte and they are active, as FH/DL1RPL from 20 til 25 of November on 144 and 432 Mhz. Full story, including blog, pictures and operational log is here.
They are started, as planned, and got a great pile-up. For me was necessary to wait, until Moon will rise at least on 8 degrees above horizon from that azimuth. Than QSO was easy: after fh_dl1rpl3rd attempt I’ve got answer. Peter have had -21 db signal at that moment, although before and after my QSO were very deep QSB.
This is my DXCC #151 and grid square #888 on 144 MHz.
Not sure, if I can work with Peter on 432 Mhz, but will try.

DXCC # 150 on 2m band – Saint Martin – in the log!

Marshall K5QE, Johan PA3FPQ, Jurgen PE1LWT and Rene PE1L are QRV from Saint Martin (DXCC FS) from October 22nd until October 27th 2015. The callsign is TO2EME, (FK88kb).
Look the expedition website http://www
.emelogger.com/fs
They are qrv at 144 MHz, 432 MHz and 1296 MHz, but I am ready only on 2 m band… Unfortunately….
It was not too hard to work with  TO2EME on the first activity day, although pile-up was huge and moon was close to set.
So, I’ve got DXCC # 150 on 2 meter band! Thanks, Team!
