From September 10th – September 15th 2014 PA3FPQ, SP4K and PE1L will be active from Cyprus (DXCC 5B4).Active bands are 144 and 1296 MHz.
Although, I have confirmed 5B on 2M band (5B4AD) and KM 64 grid square, it is always pleasure to work new initial.
Big pile-up, us usual, but I was lucky after about 1 hour calling to a team.

As usual, I looked
for a new MS initials and new grid squares. I lost shower’s maximum, because was hunted for a new and very rare squares, which were activated by VK5APN in his trip to Australian desert area. Totally I spent around 7 hours in a 6 days in MS and completed 38 QSO. Best ODX was 2080 km with IW7DEC, 21 new MS initials and 2 new squares.

As was mentioned earlier, Chris (PA2CHR) made successful “Balkan trip”in May, 2014. It promised to two new DXCC territory on 144 (HB0 and ZA) and two on 70 Mhz (4O and Z3). Today I was happy to receive QSL cards.
Bob Sutton, ZL1RS, made another DX-pedition to American Samoa Island from 13th to 28th of July. Together with Lance, W7GJ they activated EME on 6 and 2 M bands. The American Sam
oa is a small island in the Pacific Ocean. At the days, then DX-pedition started activity, it was not common window at all! First time short window (20 minutes only) appears 0n 15th of July. On 16th it was already 50 minutes, but I have no possibility even to check conditions, because was in a short holiday trip by car.
I came back from holiday on 21st. On this date we have common window with KH8 and my MR was at 22:30 utc.
KH8/ZL1RS gives first CQ at 23:10 and I called him. Answer was immediately and we complete QSO very quick. New DXCC (#137) and new grid square (#828).

During my short holiday trip to Russia, I did visited to Vladimir, RZ3BA/1 on my back way. His summer residence is close to Nevel city, on the bay of the big lake. QRA locator KO58bc. Vlad is a well known constructor of tube’s power amplifiers and a EME chaser. Below are some pictures from this visit.
Great deal: rare DXCC country, 4K (Azerbaijan), on 2M and 70cm band EME!
UT6UA (Dmitro) and UT5UAS (Aleksandr) now in Azerbaijan and running 2M band EME. Easy QSO with 4K/UT6UA on theirs moon set on 16th and 17th of June. Not much pile-up, so they answered me for my second call. It gave my DXCC nr. 136 and grid square # 8
23 on 2M. But this time, me and all other EME-chasers got a problem with decoding, when 4K/UT6UA answered to calling station with report “OOO”: prefix 4K was not decoded!

Today arrived QSL card from KH7Y and FR/DL1RPL.
Lucky day (or evening) 6 of June, 2014 at 21:06 utc: RA3POV (Victor) become my EME initial #1000 on 144 MHz.
Is remarkable, that Victor has only 150W into 14 el. single yagi! I’ve got report -16 db and his trace (JT65b) was -22 db. Full list of my initial EME QSO is here.

I started high power PA (GS35B) on 2M band on 2009. Also. in that year I make elevation on my antenna array (4x18el) and number of EME QSOs started grows quicker.

This morning I’ve got new DXCC on 2M band – Albania. Chris was very strong (from -19 to -23 db) on 144.116. But, anyway, around 30 minutes of calling him. Pile-up on 144.116 at this time was 8 – 11 stations.
Next target – to try to get ZA on 70 cm EME. Chris will activate that band on 2nd of June.
