Z38/PA2CHR – my new DXCC and # on 4M

Lucky day: I completed MS QSO with Z38/PA2CHR from KN02QE on 4 M band. QRB 1917 km. Many thanks to Lins, PA3CMC, who asks Chris to turn antenna to the North.
1 burst over 2 sec/2 db, one ping 480/2 db and many  short and weak pings. So, we complete QSO during 35 minutes. This time no E-sporadic, which helped me so much to complete QSO with 4O/PA2CHR. I hope to get KN02 square on 2M tomorrow, if Chris will continue activity from that square. His next stop will be in Albania. Thiz is new DXCC for me on 4 and 2 m band.

6W/PE1L: new one on 70 cm EME

ON 23d of May the Atleticoteam finished operation on 144 Mhz, dismantled 2 meter antennas and started EME on 70 cm with very simple setup: one 24 el. DK7ZB antenna and only 100 W! But it was again pile-up on 432.090 Mhz.  I saw trace from -24 to -29 db, but  decoded without problems. But after my first call the trace was gone! And no trace after several next calls. Seems, my mast-head LNA  was dead! Burned or something else… In the HB9Q EME logger many HAMs give me report from -14 to -17 db. So, I stopped to call to 6W/PE1L  and they informed me in the chat, that my trace was -19 db and they answered… So pity! Continue reading

DXCC # 134 on 2m EME (Virgin Islands)

Pete N8PR and Bill NZ5N are activateed St. Croix Isl. in the US Virgin Islands for 144 mhz EME from May 21 to 27, 2014. The call sign N4MM, W-Loc: FK77LL.
n4mThey are started on 22nd of May from MR, but found a fault in antenna and stopped operation. Next day was successful for team and they got a huge pile-up. Sometimes I have seen on my screen up to 18 callsigns  at the same time!
Our QSO was complete very quck.  I’ve got them -20 db and they received me -21 db.

QSO with 4O/PA2CHR on 4m

This morning I monitored on 70.193 Mhz,  Chris’s operating frequency. I hear few very tiny MS pings from him and many good burst from other station. I asked him to turn antenna to my direction for a short MS test. We are started at 0652 UTC. Some minutes later I’ve got couple of pings and, at 0705 UTC, suddenly, was 17 second burst! After one more… So, I understood, this is E-sporadic opening! Probably, Chris understood the same and called me SSB. His signal was 59+, so I answered him also SSB and got report 59!  QSO was completed very quick. DXCC # 38, grid square # 220. Continue reading

E-sporadic on May, 16th

I found E-sporadic opening around 12 UTC. The LiveMUF software running on my computer every day, so very easy to know MUF and possible direction, where to turn antenna. Great soes_160514ft, developed by Dave,  G7RAU!
Look like, maximum MUF was 56 Mhz. So, only 6 M band was opened.
And nothing on 4 M band
I worked ER, HA, I, 9A, HA, OK, OM, DL and F stations. Shortly hear stations from UK.

PA2CHR’s Balkan trip started!

Chris, PA2CHR has published his timetable for nearest trip to 4O/Z3, and ZA – land.
Which are new one for me:  4O – 70 Mhz, Z3 – 70 Mhz, ZA – 50, 144, 432 Mhz. They are intended to use all kind of propagation: ES, MS and EME. No many chances for E-sporadic at that time in our latitude. So only MS and EME are real to get new countries.
They are started today from 4O! Let’s see….

Final timetable for Balkan 2014  expedition by PA2CHR,   PA3FPQ and PE1LWT

Tireless Atletico Team make another great DX-pedition to Africa.  This time crew (Rene-PE1L, Eltje-PA3CEE and Hermann-DL2NUD) chose the  Senegal and using callsign 6W/PE1L from WW-Loc IK14JP.
6w_pe1l_crAll details are described on expedition site.
They are started operation on 7th of May and, as usually, were very successful from the beginning. It was not hard for me to complete QSO on 2M. They also going to activate 6W on 70 cm.
Let’s see, if I can get them on 70cm too!

New DXCC (#132) on 144 MHz via EME

fr_dl1rplPeter Kuschke, DL1RPL give us a possibility to get new DXCC country by his trip to Reunion Island. Date op his holiday/operation from 15th of April till 5th of May.  He started EME operation, as FR/DL1RPL,  on 16th of April and I was lucky to make QSO with him at this day.
EME conditions were poor, signal polarity was changed very quick. So, I 4 minutes I have seen his trace from -22 db to -28 db or lost him totally! When he transmitted on on V-polarity, I did not seen trace on my screen at all! After our QSO he informed me in N0UK- chat, that my signal report was -21 db in H-polarity! And it was happened after 2 hours of calling.
But, anyway, thank You, Peter, for new DXCC (#132)!

DX-pedition to Liechtenstein

Chris, PA2CHR, make a weekend EME expedition to the Liechtenstein on 11-13 of April, as HB0/PA2Chb0_pa2chrHR. It was a new DXCC country for me, so I put a lot of efforts to establish QSO with him. EME condition were not the best, because of Aurora in high latitude. But, anyway, we complete QSO after about 2 hours of calling! It gives for me DXCC # 131!
Chris, also,  going to make a great EME Balkan trip to Montenegro, Makedonie and Albania. It can bring me new DXCC (Albania) on 2 m band, and, of course, new initial EME QSOs.  Good luck to it!
